Tech

Today for technology we learnt about Invertebrate and vertebrates. We also learnt about all types of mammals like elephants and dogs, we also learnt about where they live and how they survive. We also learnt the difference between Invertebrate and Vertebrate. The difference between those is that Vertebrate animals have backbones and Invertebrate animals have no backbone or a spinal cord.

Math

Today for math me and my group done percentages and fractions this was our problem.

Miriama is making ei' katu. 25% of the ei katu has pink flowers, 1/5 of it has white flowers and the rest of the ei katu is made up of leaves.

what percentage or fraction of the ei katu are going to be leaves. and the answer is 45%,

this is how we solved it! so first we are given 25%, 1/5, 10% and the rest are leaves

so first we created a box and inside it we will cut it into pieces by converting, so 5 x 20 = 100 so that means it is a whole ei katu, then we will go with 1 x 20 = 20

25% + 10 % + 20% = 55% - 100% = 45%

TADAAAA!

so 45% are leaves on the ei katu:)

Snow planet

On a cold freezing day we had a trip to snow planet!, and if you dont mind asking me, the trip was really long!, it felt like it was a 5 hour drive!, when we got there I felt all the laziness kicking in while walking inside the snow planet!.

While we got inside I could already feel the breeze of cold! Blowing in the air “swish swish” I started to feel so excited jumping around like I was at a disco!, then all of a sudden I heard Mrs Tofa” come on guys line up!” I quickly got into my line and waited to get the gear we needed!I asked for boats, gloves and some waterproof pants! So basically that was the gear we needed!I took my gear quickly, sat on a chair and excitedly got ready!.

We all had to enter the room with all the snow and if you tell me it was like sitting in a bathtub of cold ice water, I started to jump around and play with snow!I saw a bunch of kids from my school running towards the entrance heading down to the slide! I started laughing a lot when I saw some kids coming down like they were flash!, CRASH!” I had slipped while running up the hill to have my first try down the slide that was completely covered in snow!, I got back up and I saw one of my friends running up to a different slide and that was way bigger than the slide I was playing on!, I had ran as fast as I could until I had slipped again sliding down the hill!, I got back up and I ran again and luckily I never slipped!!, when I got there “WOWW” it was way stepper than the normal one and it looked a bit scary at first!, I turned and looked to the side and there were these little homes and inside them where bathrooms and that was one of the best designs I have ever seen!, I ran towards the home and looked in the bathrooms. Wow, it was so bright.

Then I got back out of the bathroom and went to line up with the rest of my classmates, I started to get butterflies in my stomach and I felt so much nervous pain coming through then after a couple slide downs I had stopped and had a break sitting on a pile of snow waiting! Then I saw my friends saying we are going to be heading out so what I did was I had collected my floaty and put it back in its own spot and I quickly ran out of the room got changed then headed straight for my bag to eat cause I was so hot and hungry! I had to rush myself to eat and get myself changed!, then we all waited for everyone to clean up their mess and wait outside! Now that we have finished I got on the bus with a blanket and got comfy and ready to go to sleep after the best and tiring day of my life!

“I would love to go back there again!”

Gymnastics!

Today we had our first Gymnastics sessions with our coach Zayde, and we learnt some interesting body positions and developed individual skills. first was (Tuck sit) and that was really easy to do then we done the motorbike landing which was easy then after that we done angry cat then, happy cat, straddle and for the last position was the L sit and that was easy as well let me tell you, my classroom and I had a handstand competition and it was that hardest challenge I have ever done! when we had finished our handstand challenge we moved on to this game where we had to pass the ball but when we do that we have to use the (Tuck sit) and move the ball around the circle but with our feet or legs, and this was a little bit easy if I say so!.

I was so happy and excited that I had got to experience this Gymnastic session with our wonderful coach! - (Zayde)!

percentages

Today Mrs Tofa had split up the class into 4 groups and we had to solve with our fractions, decimals and percentages and in my group was Fine, Jasel, Uinita, Taylor, key, Aj and Ali-jon.

our problem is, what percentage of the pizza would each of you have?

so we have 9 slices on a pizza so 1/9 our fraction is 1/9 and we know that 100 is a whole so we split 100 with 90 so we have 90% divided by 9 which equals to the answer 10 so that means there we will get a 10% amount on each 9 slices. so that will leave us with another 10 percent left so we split 10 into a 1 so 1% will go on the 9 slices again so 10% + 1% which equals to 11% now we will have 11% on 9 slices but then we will have one more left and with that 1% we will half it between the nine of us and that will equal to 11.1% then there will be 1 more so we will do it again and again till we have no more left!

Statistics

Today my classroom done math so we first started off with..

mean - stands for average - 14.45

median - middle - 14

mode - most occurring - 19

we was givien a line of numbers so it goes like this

19,14,24,8,19,9,13,16,19,6

firstly we add all numbers then we put it all in order so

6,8,9,12,13,14,16,19,19,19,24

now that this is in order we will be checking which number is the most occurring! and that is 19 because there are 3 groups of 19 and that goes into (mode).

now that you are done  we will add all the numbers up so 6+8+9+12+13+14+16+19+19+19+19+24 and that gives us 178 and we will divided it with 11! when that is done we will get 14.45!

this is what we learnt!

kiwican

Today Room 7 went to Kiwi can and we learnt about honesty and trusty, we played games that represent trust worthy so we played trust fall with a partner and we had to see if we trusted that person or not while our buddy had to be honest and see if they could catch us or not.  once we finished we talked about how easy it was and how hard it was then we got into another game and we had to trust fall with a group of class mates it was hard because I thought they would drop me so I didn't have that much trust in me.

once we finished playing we talked about resilience and then we had lined up for class.

You are baking a cake and need 1/4 of a cup of chocolate powder. You only have a 1/3 or ⅛ measuring cups. How will you measure the cocoa powder?

Simplify

so I took the numerator which is 2 and divided it with 2 so 2 divided by 2 is 1 and then I took the denominator and that is 8 and divided it with 2 so 8 divided by 2 = 4 so 2/8 is the same as 1/4 because 2/8 covers the same area as 1/4.

coding with python

Today for tech we learnt how to do love hearts and name tags with a microbit, it was fascinating and a bit trucky to get it to work. The microbits were like led lights but a bit small.

Here are some pictures of my work about micro bits!

This is my flashing heart on code blox!

And here is my name tag on code blox!

thank you miss Firguson for teaching me how to code on a microbit!:)

Architecture

Walt: we are learning to create accurate floor plans for building a house.

We used floorplancreator.net to do this.                                                                                                                             Here are my plans!

Here is my 3d floor plan

What I learnt from this activity is:
- learning how to draw windows, beds and other objects
- learning how to do a floor plan
- practicing how to design a house in 2d and 3d
- learning how to design a house and rooms on my first try!

when I grow up, if I join the building industry, I would like to be a painter!.

I enjoyed it and it was amazing!

Technology

Today for tech, room 7 learnt about coding with micro bits and I was feeling excited. Our teacher Miss Ferguson one of our favorite tech teachers had taught us how to play rock, paper, scissors with a micro bit, it was really fascinating and we have also learnt how to do a dice roll!. Once we have finished coding with our micro bit we thought we should have a test and test it out with our classmates!

                                                                  IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!

Sky Tower

 Sky Tower

Room 7 had a trip to the sky tower, I was amazed and excited. As my class and I entered the bus I could tell it was going to be a great day!!. Pshh the bus started as I quickly sat in my chair.

As we entered Auckland city I could see the really tall towers and the amazing designs that have been created and displayed on the beautiful buildings!.

Me and my buddy were having a race of seeing the best designed buildings in Auckland city. I was fascinated, it was an interesting feeling. I looked up and saw one of the best intelligently designed buildings that I have ever seen! It had a cool outline display like the building was in a cage. It was huge and has got me motivated to look for more wonderful buildings.

As I was looking around I noticed we had finally made it to the sky tower. I was so happy and suprized because I had got to go to the top of the sky tower and I got to stand at the top!. As I was walking I had noticed people jumping off the sky tower so I sat down and watched while they were jumping off. It looked so scary and felt like I was getting butterflies even when I was watching them jump. I pulled out my book and started to do some activities that were given to me by our tutors . I wrote down my answers and quickly walked to one of the teachers when I finished.

I saw we were entering the elevator back to level 45 the Refuge. As I entered it had metal everywhere like it was literally metal! We sat down and talked about the sky tower and what they use the room as they use it as, laser tag, break area for the workers and other things.

When we had finished talking we had to line up and head back down to the first floor once we finished we all sat down and waited for the bus to come and pick us up.

Conclusion:

I would love to visit this place again!
